The Journal of Network Economics may refer to an academic journal focused on the field of network economics. Network economics is an emerging discipline that mainly studies network economic phenomena closely related to the Internet. It focuses on the growth of the internet as a world of intellectual property, as well as the phenomenon of continuous growth of network resources exceeding human demand. This field focuses on analyzing the use of the Internet, market trends, and related economic policies.

As a branch of Western economics, particularly a part of industrial organization theory, network economics mainly focuses on microeconomic research. In China, scholars have explored network economics based on different disciplinary backgrounds and theoretical foundations, and have put forward different perspectives and conclusions. Some scholars have followed the Western research paradigm, such as Zhang Minghong from Xiamen University.

The development of network economics is closely related to the advancement of network technology and the development of the information industry. It covers the core courses of economics and practical courses of network technology. The network economy is regarded as a new form of economy, marked by the widespread use of modern information networks, with information as the core resource, reflecting changes in the way the social economy operates.
